Our Practices

Although Spare Thyme Farms is not officially certified natural or organic, we grow everyday as if we are! We use regenerative farming practices like cover cropping, minimal tillage, composting, and using chicken and quail manure as natural fertilizer. Pests and weeds can be problematic because of our organic approach. But instead of spraying, we will always opt to let nature take its course and grow a wide diversity of plant life to offset any major crop loses. We try our best to take care of our piece of earth, and the soil is giving us back so much in return!

We've recently turned an unused pig nursery room into our seed starting headquarters! Put in a furnace to keep it at a nice cozy temp. Josh can figure out how to do anything...so he built some benches for the trays and rewired the electrical to hang
Our first chicks of the year have hatched! Waiting on some more in the incubator to come out of their shells🐣💛

We planted some broccoli pretty late in the fall season, not really expecting anything out of it. What a cool thing to harvest some heads in January thanks to the mild weather we've had this winter🥦 Sorry! None available for sale😢
